Rodriguez has a unique ability to see minority issues from a slightly different perspective. This perspective is enlightening even if one does not agree with his conclusions. For instance, Rodriguez is opposed to affirmative action even though he admits that such social action programs benefited him throughout his academic career. The writer demonstrates that it is Rodriguez's views on class inequality rather then racial inequality that is at the basis of his philosophy. Quotations from the source.
